Beginners/Improvers

If fly fishing is something you have always wanted to try, or you would like to improve your fly casting and watercraft, we can help. From a comprehensive one-day introduction to fly fishing for complete beginners, to a three-day masterclass for more experienced anglers, we offer a range of instructional and coaching services.

Our introduction to fly fishing covers:

• Fly fishing equipment and its use
• Fly-casting techniques
• Watercraft (safety, wading, reading the river)
• Trout biology and behaviour
• Basic entomology (insects and trout food)

In the ‘off season’ we offer courses for any level of experience – we can adjust the course to suit a complete beginner or an experienced angler.

Fly-casting Instruction

We also offer fly-casting lessons for beginners and improvers, either double-handed (salmon) or single-handed (trout) for £40 per hour (minimum two hours, maximum two persons).

These lessons are based near Aberfeldy.

Perthshire

In Perthshire, instructional trips are only available clients staying in Aberfeldy or Pitlochry (or anywhere in between). Trout (river or loch) or salmon (river).

Edinburgh

For beginners staying in Edinburgh we can offer only loch-based trout trips.
