Blast & Cast

If you enjoy shooting – or you’d like to try your hand at it – why not come on a blast and cast day. In the morning you’ll visit a very responsible, and safe, clay-shooting provider and with step-by-step instruction you will have a go at shooting ‘clays’
which are catapulted from a ‘trap’ to simulate a variety of wild quarry. After lunch you’ll be off for an afternoon’s fly fishing for trout, grayling or pike on a river or  loch.

Our Locations

Perthshire

Perthshire has by far the best clay shooting provider in Scotland, offering the most enjoyable and varied experience in sporting clays for all skill levels. It’s close to the Tay so can be combined with salmon or trout fishing, or even pike in a nearby loch.

Argyll

Our clay-shooting venue in Argyll is en-route to a distillery, or to brown or sea trout fishing. They’re not long started so it hasn’t got the refinements of Perthshire’s venue, but blasting can be done!

Edinburgh

Edinburgh has an excellent clay provider close to a favourite stocked trout fishing loch, where catches are as close to guaranteed as it gets.

How Your Trip Works

1. Start of the day
Your guide will pick you up at your accommodation (usually at 9am) and drive you to the fishing venue where they will set you up with the most suitable fishing equipment for the day’s conditions.

2. Coaching and assistance
Your guide will coach you on local conditions, show you where and how to cast, and generally how to fish the way that we have found is the most effective. If you’re an experienced angler your guide will simply offer tips and guidance.

3. Friendly company
Your guide will provide friendly company throughout the day, offer advice on playing big powerful fish, net and unhook your catch and help you out with any fishing troubles (like snags and tangles).

4. Lunch
You’ll stop for a lunch break, usually around 1pm (unless otherwise arranged, lunch is not included, so be sure to bring something to eat).

5. End of the day
Your guide will take you back to your accommodation around 5pm. The photos that they have taken of you throughout your day will be sent on afterwards.
